Shogun Japanese and Chinese Bistro Reviews
Every time I dine at this restaurant, I am always in for a delightful culinary experience. The chefs never fail to entertain and engage with the customers, making each visit truly memorable. I have lost count of how many times I have dined here in the past two years, but each visit is just as enjoyable as the last. While I love the hibachi side for the interactive dining experience, there have been occasions where I have opted for the Chinese side for a quick and satisfying meal during a busy day. No matter which side you choose, the quality of the food remains exceptional. It's important to note that this is not your typical dining experience - it's a hibachi restaurant where you sit around the grill with other diners. If you prefer a quicker meal or a more intimate dining experience, the Chinese side offers the same delicious food prepared in the kitchen. Overall, whether you're in the mood for a lively hibachi experience or a laid-back meal on the Chinese side, this restaurant never fails to deliver a great meal each and every time.
Celebrated a birthday dinner with a big group of 15 people at this restaurant. It reminded me of Bennihanna but with more affordable prices. The chicken and shrimp combo was only $25 and also included soup and salad. The food was delicious and I appreciated that it was suitable for kids too. I would definitely return for another meal.
I used to be a huge fan of Shogun and would always give them five stars, but I have noticed a decline in the quality of their food recently. The pepper steak is still really good, but the almond chicken now tastes like it was reheated and not fresh. I even encountered an end piece that was inedible. On top of that, they forgot the rice in my last order and this time there was no sauce on the Lemon Chicken. However, I must say that their sushi is still the best part of the meal.
My partner and I recently enjoyed a delightful Hibachi experience at this restaurant. We decided to have a kid-free date night on a Saturday and arrived early to beat the crowds. I opted for a glass of red wine, which was reasonably priced, while my partner indulged in a Sapporo beer, which was a bit on the pricey side. I ordered the salmon, and my partner went for the steak and scallops. We were pleasantly surprised when the chef started cooking in front of us, putting on a show with his impressive skills. I appreciated that they spaced out the diners so we all had plenty of room to enjoy the experience. The food was absolutely delicious, and we left feeling satisfied and eager to return with our kids next time. Overall, it was a wonderful evening filled with great food and great company. We can't wait to come back for another memorable dining experience.
I was thrilled that we had reservations, as the restaurant was bustling with activity. We settled in at the bar while waiting for the rest of our group to join us. Despite being short-staffed, the bartender was friendly and attentive. However, I was taken aback by the $7.90 price tag on a watered-down rum and coke. The pricing of drinks definitely needs reevaluation to ensure customers are getting fair value. Once we were seated at the grill, we waited patiently for the owner to finally come over to our table. He put on a delightful performance for the kids, which brought smiles to their faces. While the service was decent, it wasn't anything extraordinary, and I couldn't help feeling slightly insulted by the automatic 18% tip suggestion. I always strive to tip above the standard rate. On the bright side, the food was delicious! I opted for the shrimp, and it tasted incredibly fresh and flavorful. Despite the few hiccups in service, I would be willing to give this restaurant another chance based on the quality of the food.
Recently, I stumbled upon a hidden gem in SCS that caters to my sushi cravings. While I have yet to experience their hibachi offerings, I have always been able to snag a table in the sushi/dining area without any wait. One dish that I particularly enjoyed was the deep fried CC roll which left me craving for more. For those looking to save some extra cash, keep an eye out for any available Groupon deals for this restaurant. Highly recommended for all sushi lovers!
Recently dined at this restaurant, and I have to say I am still stuffed! The food was not only delicious but also quite entertaining. While I didn't rate it 5 stars, the only reason for that is because we were seated at a table all by ourselves at first and had to wait for about 15-20 minutes for the grill to fill up with other guests. This made my husband a bit hangry, but I guess if we had ordered some drinks or appetizers it wouldn't have felt as long of a wait. Once the show started and the food started coming, all was forgiven. We opted for the Japanese menu, which was a great choice (you do have the option to choose between Japanese or Chinese before sitting down). The soup was tasty, the salad was unique but good, the fried rice was absolutely delicious, and the chicken was cooked to perfection. I also have to mention how incredible the hot mustard sauce was - a true standout. Watching the chefs cook right in front of us was definitely a fun and unique experience. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and will definitely be returning, especially considering how close it is to our home ;) Another fantastic dining option added to our list of go-to restaurants in the Grosse Pointe area.
My friends and I decided to check out this restaurant for a leisurely late afternoon lunch. To our delight, the place wasn't too crowded at around 3 PM, so we were promptly seated and served. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food - everything we ordered was delicious. The standout for me was definitely the shrimp, scallop, and vegetable tempura, which were perfectly crispy and flavorful. The hibachi steak, chicken, and shrimp were also cooked to perfection, meeting the high standards I have for Japanese cuisine. I decided to try plum wine for the first time here, and it was a delightful discovery. The sweet and slightly tart flavor paired wonderfully with our meal. Both the chef and waitress were friendly and attentive, adding to the overall pleasant dining experience. I can confidently say that this restaurant is a gem, and I would definitely love to come back for another enjoyable meal in the future.
My experience at this Japanese restaurant was truly unforgettable. The entertainment aspect of having the food prepared table side by the chefs was a highlight for me. Not only was the food outstanding, but the entertainment value added an extra layer of enjoyment to the dining experience. While the prices may be on the higher end, I truly believe it was worth every penny for the quality of food and entertainment that we received. If you're looking for a unique and unforgettable dining experience, I highly recommend giving this restaurant a try.
My recent takeout experience at Shogun was quite pleasant. The customer service was top-notch, and my order was ready right on time. I decided to treat myself to some sushi and sashimi this time around. The California roll was simple but tasty, and the salmon sashimi was fresh and delicious. What impressed me the most was how evenly cut the salmon pieces were, making each bite a delight. I returned for a second time and was happy to find that the experience was just as good as the first. The Alaskan Pipe roll was beautifully wrapped, and the sashimi remained consistently sliced at 1/2 inch thick. The Spring Rolls and Egg Rolls were nothing out of the ordinary, but they did the job. Overall, based on my experience and after reading other reviews, I have decided to stick to ordering takeout from Shogun. The consistency in both the quality of the food and the service is what keeps me coming back for more.
